VICHAR brings together scholars, policymakers, authors, entrepreneurs, military leaders, and public intellectuals for thoughtful conversations on politics, economics, education, technology, culture, and society. We are currently accepting applications for two remote positions.
Video Editor
Transform long-form podcast conversations into polished episodes, trailers, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and promotional content.
Research Assistant
Research guests and topics, develop interview briefs, verify information, and help produce thoughtful, well-prepared conversations.
Video Editor
We are looking for a creative and dependable editor who can turn in-depth podcast conversations into engaging content for YouTube, Instagram, and other digital platforms.
What You Will Work On
- Edit full-length podcast episodes for YouTube.
- Create Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, trailers, and promotional clips.
- Identify compelling moments, strong opening hooks, and shareable segments from each conversation.
- Add subtitles, graphics, transitions, music, photographs, and relevant visual elements.
- Improve audio quality and maintain consistent sound levels.
- Maintain a consistent visual identity across VICHAR content.
- Coordinate with the host and meet agreed publication deadlines.
Who We Are Looking For
- Experience editing interviews, podcasts, documentaries, educational videos, or social-media content.
- A strong understanding of pacing, storytelling, audience retention, and short-form content.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar software.
- Ability to create accurate, clean, and readable subtitles.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Reliability, responsiveness, and the ability to incorporate feedback.
- Familiarity with YouTube and Instagram content formats.
Additional Skills That Are Welcome
- Thumbnail design and basic graphic design.
- Motion graphics and animated titles.
- Experience creating English, Hindi, or Marathi subtitles.
- Familiarity with political, academic, cultural, or public-affairs content.
Research Assistant
We are looking for an intellectually curious and detail-oriented research assistant to help prepare thoughtful, accurate, and engaging podcast conversations.
What You Will Work On
- Research upcoming guests, including their background, publications, public statements, interviews, and areas of expertise.
- Prepare concise but substantive guest research briefs.
- Develop thoughtful interview questions, follow-up questions, and possible discussion themes.
- Research subjects related to politics, economics, public policy, education, technology, history, culture, and society.
- Identify relevant data, reports, books, articles, speeches, and previous interviews.
- Verify names, dates, statistics, quotations, and other factual information before recording or publication.
- Suggest timely guests, emerging topics, and potential conversation angles.
- Help prepare episode descriptions, guest introductions, timestamps, titles, and supporting written material.
Who We Are Looking For
- Strong research, reading, analytical, and writing skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest in serious, wide-ranging conversations.
- Ability to summarize complex ideas clearly and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to factual accuracy.
- Ability to distinguish reliable sources from weak or unsupported information.
- Good judgment when developing sensitive, challenging, or probing interview questions.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines.
- Comfort working across different disciplines and unfamiliar subject areas.
Preferred Background
- Current students, recent graduates, researchers, journalists, writers, or professionals with relevant research experience.
- Background in political science, economics, public policy, international relations, history, sociology, law, journalism, education, technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with India, Maharashtra, South Asia, or global public affairs is welcome but not required.
- Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of Marathi or Hindi is an advantage.
- Experience with academic databases, public records, fact-checking, or media research is an advantage.
